Solenzara antifouling day 2

The antifouling has been done!
Beautiful.  There is a thin strip of masking tape around the top edge.  This will be peeled off and there will be a lovely straight line left. The new sounder hasn't arrived yet and so the boat will stay out of the water until it does.  The boat looks clean.  When we stored the boat in the middle of France, it ended up filthy and it took weeks to clean it.
That sky looks beautiful.

ACTION AT SOLENZARA

We received this photo of pressure cleaning the hull of Austral at Solenzara.  It was taken an hour before we received it.
The work is being done by Nicolas Spies (or one of his workers) . The boat has been in the water for 9 months and the old antifouling was well and truly spent.  We're surprised at how little growth is on the hull.  You can see that the rudder and keel had been painted with black antifouling in August last year.  This is because we had these epoxied and sealed  before it went into the water for winter storage.  We also had the propeller shaft and the bearings replaced then. This is why the propeller is nice and shiny.

Probably by the end of today, the hull will get its first coat of royal Blue antifouling.  We are also having the depth sounder and speed log replaced.  The boat will be back in the water by the time we arrive and will become our hotel as we de-winterize the interior and prepare it to sail away.

Look at that weather; 22 degrees and rising.  It drops to 18 at night.  The sun rises at 6:00 and sets at around 8:30. In high summer you get 16 hours of bright daylight.

It's a delight to see the old girl once more.
